What the app accesses, why it needs it, and what never leaves your device.
Ryan D Hoffman ("we", "us" or "our"), the developer of the WiFi Web Login app, is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use and disclose information about you when you use our mobile application (the "App"). Please read this Privacy Policy carefully.
Sensitive app permissions we use, and location access
Fine location access
The App needs access to your precise location (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION) to enable features that query the names of nearby Wi-Fi networks. This requirement was introduced in a recent Android SDK update.
Your precise location is only used locally on your device, to retrieve nearby Wi-Fi network names and the connection status of the current Wi-Fi network. It is not stored or transmitted externally.
Background location access
The App needs access to your location while running in the background (ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION) to enable automatic login. This allows the App to detect changes in Wi-Fi networks and log you in without needing to open the App directly.
Your location is only temporarily accessed in the background to check for Wi-Fi network changes, for the purpose of automatic login. It is never stored or transmitted off your device.
Changing or withdrawing location access
We will only access your location indirectly, when your device connects to Wi-Fi. If at any time you change your mind and no longer consent, you can disable location access for the App through your device settings. This will limit certain App features that rely on location services.

Data we collect and share
We collect limited information from your device when you use WiFi Web Login. By default, we do not collect sensitive personal data such as your location, Wi-Fi credentials, or other identifying information.
The information we collect by default is:
- The Wi-Fi network name (SSID)
- Whether a login was triggered
- Whether that login was successful
This tells us when and how the app is being used, so we can improve it.
While using the Service, the App may require you to provide certain personally identifiable information, including but not limited to location, Wi-Fi name, debug information, IP address, and whether a VPN is present. The information requested is retained on your device and is not collected by us in any way.
The App does use third-party services that may collect information used to identify you. Their privacy policies:
Debug information
If you choose to send debug information to help troubleshoot a problem, we may collect additional usage data to investigate the issue. This is only done on an as-needed basis, with your knowledge and consent.
How we use information
The information we collect is used to:
- Improve the app and fix bugs and errors
- Understand how the app is being used, so we can make it better
- Troubleshoot issues if you request assistance
We do not use the information collected for any other purpose.
